Drill to Earth's Core Layers: Depths, Enemies and Boss Walls

All 12 Drill to Earth's Core layers from the Grass Layer to the Heart of the Earth: depth, new enemies, mutation, wall and boss wall HP, and life past 100 km.

Last checked Sources

There are 12 Drill to Earth's Core layers, from the Grass Layer at the surface to the Heart of the Earth at 1,000 km. A normal run crosses 11 of them and ends at the Glowing Core's boss wall at 100 km; Infinite Mode keeps going. Each layer adds enemies, a mutation and tougher walls, and ends in a boss wall the drill has to break before the next layer opens.

The figures below come from Fandom's Layers page, with the depth badge counts from Roblox on 5 October 2026. For a plan to get through them, read how to reach the core.

The Frozen Layer is the newest: the 3 October update put it at 51 km to 61 km in place of the Radioactive Layer. Base stats for every enemy are on the enemies page, and what each mutation does is in the mutations guide.

Fandom's Layers table lists Bombo from the Crystal Layer down, while Bombo's own page says it appears at the Glowing Core; the table above follows Bombo's page. The Dirt Layer's little walls are 3 HP in the table and 5 HP in the layer's own notes.

How Drill to Earth's Core Layers End: Walls and Boss Walls

Fandom's Layers page says little and large walls come every 700 m to 1 km, often a little wall with a large wall behind it. They split up the enemies, and dungeons and other structures spawn in the open space between them.

Every layer ends in a boss wall with far more HP than any other wall and a cave entrance on each side. Once the drill starts hitting it, waves of enemies come from both caves and from behind the drill, so the team has to hold them off while the driver keeps drilling. Breaking it unlocks the next layer for everyone and, from the Dirt Layer on, pays Cores (see how to get Cores). A rest stop with a shop and a trading post waits at the start of each new layer; the dungeons page covers what each one offers.

Drill to Earth's Core Layers One by One

Grass Layer: 0 m to 3 km

The start of every run. There are no little walls yet, the first dungeon sits near the start and a trading post waits by the boss wall, so you can sell your first loot and buy your first upgrades. New enemies: Goblin. No mutation yet. Boss wall: 100 HP. 11,569,521 players held the Grass Layer badge on 5 October 2026.

Dirt Layer: 3 km to 10 km

Goblin Brutes join the goblins, and little walls appear between the large ones. A story scene with Crazy Zack and Simon plays at the Dirt boss wall. New enemies: Goblin Brute. No mutation yet. Boss wall: 500 HP. 6,387,919 players held the Dirt Layer badge on 5 October 2026.

Stone Layer: 10 km to 17 km

Enemies start to roll mutations here, and Loot Goblins start stealing items off the drill. New enemies: Loot Goblin. Mutations begin here. Boss wall: 1,000 HP. 3,688,316 players held the Stone Layer badge on 5 October 2026.

Clay Layer: 17 km to 24 km

The first special boss wall: the Void covers it and drains the drill's fuel to zero when you reach it. Fandom suggests carrying three to seven coal to refuel straight away. No new enemy types. Mutation: Void. Boss wall: 2,000 HP. 2,423,290 players held the Clay Layer badge on 5 October 2026.

Fossil Layer: 24 km to 31 km

Spiders join the enemy mix, and the Giant mutation makes enemies bigger, slower and worth more fuel. New enemies: Spider. Mutation: Giant. Boss wall: 4,000 HP. 1,982,415 players held the Fossil Layer badge on 5 October 2026.

Crystal Layer: 31 km to 41 km

Fuel Leeches hide in crystal-heavy rock and drain the tank, and Stone enemies only take damage from a pickaxe or explosives. New enemies: Bat Minion and Fuel Leech. Mutation: Stone. Boss wall: 10,000 HP. 1,630,497 players held the Crystal Layer badge on 5 October 2026.

Toxic Layer: 41 km to 51 km

The Void has swallowed this layer's rest stop, but its shop always stocks a Golden Medkit. No new enemy types. Mutation: Toxic. Boss wall: 25,000 HP. 1,348,483 players held the Toxic Layer badge on 5 October 2026.

Frozen Layer: 51 km to 61 km

New in the 3 October Winter update, replacing the Radioactive Layer at the same depth. Frozen enemies slow you when they hit. No new enemy types. Mutation: Frozen. Boss wall: 50,000 HP. 1,209,807 players held the Frozen Layer badge on 5 October 2026.

The Abyss: 61 km to 72 km

Mole Men start to appear, and Electric enemies move faster than anything before them. New enemies: Mole Man. Mutation: Electric. Boss wall: 100,000 HP. 959,605 players held the The Abyss badge on 5 October 2026.

Void Layer: 72 km to 84 km

Void enemies are tankier and, since 29 August, 25% faster. No new enemy types. Mutation: Void. Boss wall: 200,000 HP. 802,511 players held the The Void badge on 5 October 2026.

Glowing Core: 84 km to 1,000 km

The core itself. Its boss wall at 100 km is the end of a normal run, guarded by the Wolf Bat. Past it the layer runs on to 1,000 km in Infinite Mode. New enemies: Wolf Bat and Bombo. Mutation: Void, Toxic and Fire. Boss wall: 500,000 HP. 527,160 players held the Reach The Core badge on 5 October 2026.

Heart of the Earth: 1,000 km and deeper

The deepest layer, added on 29 August at 1,000 km. It holds the Heartgem, which sells for 5,000 coins (25,000 when Pristine). No new enemy types. Mutation: Void, Toxic and Fire. Boss wall: 5,000,000 HP. 2,118 players held the Heart of Earth badge on 5 October 2026.

Special Boss Walls

  • Clay Layer: fuel drops to zero the moment you reach the Void-covered wall, so bring three to seven coal to refill the tank.
  • Toxic Layer: a guaranteed Golden Medkit in the broken rest stop's shop. If you want to sell, Fandom suggests holding your loot for the next rest stop or gathering coal here.
  • Glowing Core: the Wolf Bat attacks while you drill the 100 km wall. It teleports to one of four spots, charges an orb and throws it, then rushes the players. At 0 HP it is stunned and fully heals within 10 seconds, so the fastest way past it is to finish the wall.

Fandom's tips for every boss wall from 100 km on: carry one or two Golden Medkits or a Revive Kit, so one death does not cost the run.

Drill to Earth's Core Layers Past 100 km

  • Breaking the Glowing Core wall puts a Void Crystal on the drill. Fandom's Items page values it at 5,000 coins and says it spawns once, at 100 km only.
  • A church follows, where you can save your gear, then roughly one every 300 km.
  • Boss walls come every 25 km. With each layer, little walls gain 1 HP and large walls 10 HP, and the boss wall adds 10,000 HP for every little and large wall in the layer. The Glowing Core runs on to 1,000 km; from there it is always the Heart of the Earth, with 5,000,000 HP boss walls.
  • Trading post prices rise 0.2x for every 100 km.
  • Fandom's Layers page says the Wolf Bat comes back every 100 km; its own Fandom page says it appears only once.

The Infinite Mode guide has the full list of changes and a sell multiplier table.
