Drill to Earth's Core chests are the main source of both Cores and gear in a run. Fandom's Chests page lists four tiers, Wooden, Golden, Diamond and Void, each paying a multiple of the base Cores, and says every chest holds one to three items by default, with some class perks raising that. You can also buy chests with Cores in the lobby.

Fandom's Chests page says loot selection and odds show in the lobby chest shop; it does not list them yet. The items page lists what weapons come from which chest tier, for example the Void Revolver, Void Shotgun and RPG from Golden chests and better.
How Many Cores a Chest Pays
Fandom's Core page says each layer you break adds 0.2 Cores to a chest, times its multiple. The Chests page says the first chest of a run gives about one Core. No page lists the full formula, so the table shows only the increase:

The Lobby Chest Shop and Armory Chests
The chest shop sits in the bottom-right corner of the lobby. Fandom's Lobby page says it restocks every 5 minutes with one of the four tiers and sells them one or ten at a time: Common for 100 Cores, Gold for 250 Cores, Diamond for 500 Cores and Void for 1,000 Cores. The Season 1 update on 5 September added Armory Chests in the lobby as another source of chests (Fandom's Chests page).
Mimics
A Wooden Chest can turn into a Mimic when you open it. Fandom says the Mimic chases players while it charges and explodes after 10 seconds, so run. It cannot be killed, but Life Steal hits on it still heal you. The Mimic badge exists on Roblox, but Fandom does not list its task yet (see badges).
Getting More From Drill to Earth's Core Chests
- The Lucky Looter class improves chest drops, and a Luck Potion stacks with its perks (Fandom's Items page).
