Drill to Earth's Core Bombo: A walking stone bomb that goes after your drill setup rather than you. Being stone, only a pickaxe or an explosion hurts it.

The Glowing Core and deeper, per the 29 August patch notes. Fandom's Bombo page gives it a 1% chance per enemy spawn. It first spawns in the Glowing Core (84 km down), per the layers page. Like an enemy with the Stone mutation (see mutations), only a pickaxe or explosives hurt it; dynamite and the RPG are on the items page.

Stats are from Fandom's Enemies table; where another source gives a different number, it is in brackets. Enemy health and damage grow with depth, so deeper layers hit harder than these base values.

How the Bombo Attacks

  • Targets welded and crafted items on the drill first, and players only when there are none (15 August patch notes).
  • Once close, it explodes after 5 seconds; Fandom says running away cancels the fuse.
  • The blast knocks players down and back, like a Mimic's.

How to Beat the Drill to Earth's Core Bombo

  • Kill it with a pickaxe or explosives well away from the drill.
  • It always explodes when defeated, so do not fight it next to your welded items.

These tips come from the Bombo's Fandom page and the patch notes; none were tested in-game for this page.

Bombo Patch Changes and Source Notes

  • The 15 August patch notes say the blast disables every item in range for a minute, destroys chairs and crates outright and spares Mounted Gunners. Fandom's Bombo page says the blast knocks items off the drill instead.
  • Fandom's Enemies table lists 50 HP, speed 15 and 60 damage; the Bombo page lists 75 HP, speed 16 and 40 damage.
  • Bombo arrived on 15 August at a 25% spawn chance from the Crystal Layer, was pulled the next day, and came back on 29 August at 1% from the Glowing Core. The 22 August notes in between limited it to Infinite Mode at 2%.
